Sermorelin is a synthetic form of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), which is the body's natural hormone that stimulates the production of growth hormone. Also referred to as growth hormone-releasing factor or GRF 1-29, it is classified as a growth hormone secretagogue, a type of compound that promotes the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland.
UsageSermorelin encourages the production of growth hormone, leading to increased muscle mass, reduced body fat, improved recovery, better sleep, enhanced flexibility and joint health, as well as overall health and wellness.
It is primarily used to address poor growth development, particularly in children, caused by a deficiency in growth hormone. It operates by stimulating the pituitary gland to enhance the secretion of natural growth hormone.
Mechanism of ActionLike the body's natural GHRH, Sermorelin binds to the growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor (GHRHr) located in the anterior part of the pituitary gland. This action stimulates the production of growth hormone and promotes increased levels of endogenous IGF-1. Since Sermorelin mimics GHRH, its positive effects on growth hormone release are regulated by a negative feedback mechanism triggered by somatostatin, the body’s growth hormone-inhibiting hormone. This feedback mechanism helps prevent excessively high growth hormone levels and maintains more natural variations in growth hormone concentrations.
Sermorelin's natural mechanism of action helps to preserve the hypothalamic-pituitary-somatotropic axis, preventing the suppression of hormone production that often occurs with direct human growth hormone (hGH) replacement therapy. Additionally, Sermorelin has been found to enhance sleep quality by increasing the amount of restorative slow-wave sleep and boosting growth hormone release during sleep while reducing cortisol production, which is a stress hormone that can be catabolic.
AdministrationSubcutaneous injection into a fleshy area, typically the stomach or abdomen.
Method of Administration:Before injecting Sermorelin, it is crucial to use a clean and sterile syringe.
100 mcg to 1000 mcg (0.10 mg to 1.0 mg) 1 - 3 times daily
Dosage Amount:Dosage Frequency:
Sermorelin can be administered once daily before bedtime or divided into 2-3 smaller doses during the day. Both methods have proven effective and yielded positive results in clinical studies.
Despite its relatively short half-life of up to 20 minutes, Sermorelin has demonstrated the ability to trigger an acute release of growth hormone for two hours following administration. Protocols involving three daily doses of just 100 mcg (0.10 mg) have shown significant increases in both growth hormone and IGF-1 secretion.
Side EffectsSermorelin may cause several mild side effects, including: injection site reactions such as pain, swelling, and redness; skin flushing; headaches; difficulty swallowing; dizziness or fatigue; hyperactivity; hives; nausea and/or vomiting; altered taste; paleness; and chest tightness.
