Stanozolol, commonly known as Winstrol, is a 17-alpha-alkylated analogue of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It possesses low androgenic properties while being highly anabolic. Developed in 1962 by the American pharmaceutical company Sterling-Winthrop Laboratories, it was aimed at increasing lymphocyte and CD8+ cell counts, while decreasing CD4+ and CD3+ counts in postmenopausal women for osteoporosis treatment. This mechanism may hold potential for addressing autoimmune conditions. Winstrol is also effective in treating hereditary angioedema and has an impact on certain immune processes.
Currently, Stanozolol is sold in two forms: tablets and injectable solutions. It is the second most popular oral anabolic steroid, following methandienone. Stanozolol tablets have a short lifespan of about nine hours, compared to the injectable form.
