Levitra is a medication designed to address issues related to achieving or maintaining an erection, known as erectile dysfunction.

At least 10% of men experience problems with getting or maintaining an erection at some point. The causes can be physical, psychological, or a combination of both. Regardless of the reason, changes in muscle and blood vessels can lead to insufficient blood flow to the penis, preventing it from becoming or remaining erect.

Levitra is effective only when sexual stimulation occurs. It inhibits the action of a natural chemical in the body that leads to the loss of erections, allowing for an erection lasting long enough to complete sexual activity satisfactorily.

- You are allergic to vardenafil or any of its components (allergic reactions can manifest as rashes, itching, swelling of the face or lips, and difficulty breathing). - You are taking nitrate medications, such as glycerol trinitrate for angina, or nitric oxide donors like amyl nitrite, as these may dangerously interact with Levitra. - You are using ritonavir or indinavir, which are HIV medications. - You are over 75 years old and taking anti-fungal drugs such as ketoconazole or itraconazole. - You have severe heart or liver conditions. - You are undergoing kidney dialysis. - You recently had a stroke or heart attack. - You have low blood pressure, or a family history of degenerative eye diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa. - You have experienced non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), a condition associated with vision loss due to reduced blood supply to the optic nerve.

- You have cardiac issues, which may put you at risk during sexual activity. - You experience irregular heartbeats or have a family history of inherited heart conditions affecting your electrocardiogram. - You have structural issues with the penis, such as angulation, Peyronie's disease, or cavernosal fibrosis. - You suffer from conditions that cause prolonged erections (priapism) like sickle cell disease, multiple myeloma, or leukemia. - You have peptic ulcers or bleeding disorders like hemophilia. - You are currently undergoing treatment for erectile dysfunction. - If you notice a sudden decrease or loss of vision, discontinue Levitra and consult your doctor immediately.

Levitra is approved for men aged 18 and older, and is not intended for women or children.

Inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs. While Levitra typically interacts safely with most medications, some can pose issues, particularly nitrates, anti-arrhythmic drugs, HIV medications, certain anti-fungals (like ketoconazole or itraconazole), macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin or clarithromycin), and alpha-blockers.

Levitra is not intended for use by women.
