While effective, fluoroquinolone antibiotics, including gemifloxacin, can lead to serious or disabling side effects. Therefore, gemifloxacin should only be utilized for infections that cannot be managed with a safer antibiotic alternative.
Additionally, gemifloxacin may be prescribed for conditions not specified in this medication guide.

Key Information About Gemifloxacin (Factive)

If you experience symptoms like headaches, increased hunger, irritability, anxiety, shakiness, numbness, tingling, burning sensations, confusion, agitation, paranoia, memory or concentration difficulties, or suicidal thoughts, stop taking the medication immediately and contact your doctor.
Gemifloxacin can lead to tendon swelling or tearing. If you notice sudden pain, swelling, bruising, tenderness, stiffness, or restricted movement in any joints, discontinue use and consult your doctor right away.

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to gemifloxacin or any other fluoroquinolones (such as ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin, and others).
