SUBSTANCE Flibanserin ,

Fliban tablets contain the active ingredient flibanserin and are produced by Centurion Remedies Ltd. in India. These tablets are primarily used to treat premenopausal women suffering from hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), which is characterized by a low level of sexual desire. Fliban helps to enhance sexual activity in women and demonstrates an improvement of two to three points over placebo in about half of the cases.

For women over 30, Fliban is commonly used to address sexual function disorders. It has been removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and is now classified under sexual interest/arousal disorder based on updated diagnostic criteria.

How Does Fliban Work?

Fliban tablets, which contain flibanserin, work by activating 5-HT1A receptors in the prefrontal cortex. This activation elevates dopamine and norepinephrine activity while also inhibiting serotonin levels within this area of the brain. The resulting balance between these neurotransmitters contributes to regulating sexual responses in women.

What Are Fliban Tablets?

Fliban (Flibanserin Tablets) are indicated for premenopausal women experiencing acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), characterized by diminished sexual desire leading to significant distress or interpersonal difficulties. Flibanserin should not be prescribed for low sexual desire due to medical or mental health issues, relationship problems, or as an effect of other medications. It's not suitable for postmenopausal women or men and should not be used for enhancing sexual performance. These tablets are often referred to as female libido supplements.

Fliban tablets are produced by Centurion Remedies Ltd. in India and come in oval, pink, film-coated form, available in a dosage of 100 mg.

How to Take Fliban Tablets?

Take one Fliban tablet once daily at bedtime. It is crucial to take it only at bedtime as taking it at other times may increase the risk of low blood pressure, fainting, accidental injuries, and excessive drowsiness.

Mechanism of Action of Fliban

The action of Flibanserin, known as the Female Libido Pill, involves modulating various brain chemicals that may influence sexual desire, although the precise mechanism remains unclear. Flibanserin acts as a post-synaptic 5HT1A receptor agonist and a 5HT2A receptor antagonist within the central nervous system. It addresses the imbalance between dopamine and norepinephrine, which are critical for sexual excitement, while reducing serotonin, which is linked to sexual inhibition.

Side Effects of Fliban

Possible side effects include: - Anxiety - Constipation - Abdominal pain - Metrorrhagia - Rash - Sedation - Vertigo

Dosage of Fliban

The recommended dose of Flibanserin Tablets is 100 mg, taken once daily at bedtime to minimize risks such as hypotension and CNS depression that can occur if taken during the day. Positive effects may be noticed as soon as three weeks after starting treatment, but if there is no improvement after eight weeks, the treatment should be discontinued.

Overdosing on Flibanserin may lead to heightened severity of side effects, including extreme drowsiness or dizziness and fainting. In the event of an overdose, treatment should focus on alleviating symptoms, as there is no specific antidote for flibanserin.

Uses of Fliban

Fliban (Flibanserin Tablets) is intended for premenopausal women experiencing persistent low sexual desire that causes distress and is not attributed to medical or mental health conditions, relational issues, or substance use. HSDD is a recognized medical condition where premenopausal women face troubling low libido regardless of circumstances or sexual partners. Fliban is not indicated for postmenopausal women, men, or children and should not be used to enhance sexual performance.
